Parent Testimonials
At UR My Sunshine, we are honored to have supported countless families through their pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood journeys. Here’s what some of our amazing parents have to say about their experiences with our childbirth education and doula services.

"Lisa helped bring my first baby into this world. When I say she's the best - words have never been more true. My husband and I cannot thank her enough for her compassion, professionalism, knowledge, dedication, and kindness. You can see her heart in her work! My daughter was born via C-Section (she was frank breech). Prior to her arrival, Lisa was actively answering my questions and made me feel comfortable with my upcoming procedure. Safe to say I was scared, but Lisa made absolutely sure I was prepared and held my hand through it all! My delivery was so smooth and perfect. Lisa continues to check on me postpartum and my daughter is almost 5 months old. She is a true gem to this world and someone I hold close to my heart. She was such a blessing on quite literally the most important day of our lives. My daughter was in the best of hands, thanks to Lisa. "

"I met Lisa a few hours into labor with my first born. She was randomly assigned to be my nurse that morning, but I believe it was truly divine intervention. It had been a slow start since I was being induced, but the second she came into the room, she came with energy and determination. She embodied everything I needed in that moment to feel safe and secure, but also ready and motivated. Lisa helped me through 13 hours of labor, physically and mentally. She was truly magical and knew exactly how to position my body to move the baby and ease my pain. Because of her, my birth was everything I wanted it to be and more. When my son came out not breathing, she stayed by my side through every moment. We had a 4-day NICU stay and she came to visit us every day. I will never deliver another baby without Lisa by my side. We are so thankful for her."

"I honestly could not have gotten through delivery without an amazing nurse like Tonia. She was so attentive & patient for me and my baby. She was encouraging to me when I thought I could not do it anymore. She was very supportive of my husband as well and showed him how to help me as well. My baby gave us a hard time during labor but she was on top of everything keeping us both safe. Thank you so much Tonia! At 11 months old, we still tell our son, "you better stop your crying or we are sending you back to Tonia."

If you want the short answer: HIRE UR MY SUNSHINE AZ! I had a successful delivery with only 7 minutes of pushing, and it’s all thanks to Lisa and Tonia! I don’t think you’ll find anyone else in the valley who offers this level of care. Lisa and Tonia are always patient, incredibly supportive both physically and emotionally, and super knowledgeable! The shorter the delivery, the less you suffer—and these ladies made that happen.
This is just my story, and everyone will have their own unique experience. I hope yours will be less intense than mine! This was our first baby, and I’m a first-time mom. We had an induction date planned, but of course, the baby couldn’t wait and came at 37 weeks + 5 days. That morning, I started feeling contractions, and I immediately reached out to Lisa, showing her my contraction log. I was at the 5-1-1 rule, and the pain was extremely intense (which, by the way, was just “kindergarten level” pain compared to what came later, LOL).
Since I didn’t know what to expect, Lisa asked if she could come over and recommended we stay home for a while, since there was a chance the hospital would send us back. She suggested I take a warm bath to relax for 30-40 minutes, and then we spent the next few hours doing all sorts of positions on my bed to help with labor. Pro tip: Take their birthing class! You’ll learn exercises that not only help with delivery but also with second and third trimester discomfort!
Lisa was amazing, not only helping me through contractions but also calming my husband, who tends to get anxious when he’s not actively doing something. Lisa totally gets how guys are wired and sent him off to work on a house project, creating a calm and peaceful environment for me. After 6 hours of contractions, exercises, and walking, Lisa even prepped my husband with all the questions the hospital might ask, which was super thoughtful!
When we finally went to the hospital, I was already 3 cm dilated. You’d think it’s epidural time, right?
Nope! My hospital wouldn’t admit me until I was at 5 cm because I wasn’t yet 38 weeks. Lisa couldn’t come into triage due to hospital policy, but she stayed in the parking lot, coaching my husband on how to help me through the pain. (Side note: Nurses usually just tell you to walk, but walking with contractions every 2 minutes and pain that lasts 30-50 seconds? You’ll want to give up! Again—take their birthing class!) After 5 hours with Lisa waiting in the parking lot and us nearing Plan B—where Tonia would take over and continue coaching us at home— Thank god I finally reached 5 cm around midnight and don’t need to go back home. Tonia then took over from Lisa. (Honestly, I believe that if Lisa had been allowed to come into triage with us, this whole process could have been cut in half easily, so try to stay at your house as long as you can.)
Yes! Finally, epidural time! I was freezing and shaking from the IV prep, but Tonia was a lifesaver. She gave me so much support, both physically and emotionally. Tonia holds my hands and she knew exactly what the epidural process was like and walked me through every step before the needle went in, which helped me mentally prepare and build the confidence. I’m convinced the process went smoothly because of her.
Once the epidural kicked in, I could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I felt pressure but no pain! But even then, Tonia was still working hard, changing my position every 30-45 minutes and giving me massages to keep me comfortable.Right before it was time to push, she prepped me thoroughly—how hard to push, what position to take, where to place my arms, and even where my husband should position his hands to support my back. All those little details made the difference, and that’s why I only had to push for 7 minutes!
I can’t thank Lisa and Tonia enough for being there for me throughout the entire process. Without them, my labor experience would’ve been 10 times harder. I hope this review helps, and I wish you a smooth and successful delivery too!
